We recommend felt tips for the drawing and we have used permanent pens for our sample piece. The smaller the felt tip used, the finer the illustration will be. Please also note that the plywood will absorb some of the ink from the pens due to the natural grain in the wood. Bright bold colours looks wonderful on the natural finish.
